Sickness Policy
For the protection of all the children in my care and my own family I will not accept into my care an unwell child who may present an infection risk.
Any child with an infectious illness (e.g. measles, mumps, chicken pox etc) must be kept at home. If the child is suffering from vomiting and/or diarrhoea he or she must be symptom free for at least 24 hours before returning to the childminding setting.
If a child becomes ill whilst in my care their parents will be contacted and a decision will be made as to whether it is appropriate for the child to remain in my care or to be collected. Until such time as the child is collected they will be cared for according to my first aid training and relevant regulations.
As per my medicine policy no medication either prescription or over the counter will be administered without a signed consent form and verbal permission from the parents.
If I have a minor ailment such as a cough or cold I will continue to provide care for your child however if I become seriously ill or present a risk of infection and are therefore unable to provide care for your child I will endeavour to notify you as soon as possible to either collect your child or make other arrangements for their care. Days when your child is ill and unable to attend are still chargeable at the normal agreed upon rates. If I am ill and unable to care for your child on a contracted day then no charge will be made.
